Manso, who lined up for Cornerstones and Asante Kotoko during his playing days, said the Black Stars currently play like a division 2 side.

The Black Stars have been enduring a poor run of form in recent times, having failed to win any of their matches in the October international break.

Chris Hughton’s side suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Mexico first before again being battered 4-0 by the USA.

Manso attributed the national team’s struggles to a lack of commitment on the part of the players, insisting most of them aren’t prepared to sacrifice for the nation.

"These current Black Stars players are not committed and not willing to sacrifice for the nation. They play like a division two side and struggle to defend against opponents,” he said on Kumasi-based Time FM, as quoted by Ghanasoccernet.

Meanwhile, Ghana coach Chris Hughton believes he’s still the right man to turn things around despite his side’s struggles.

“If you ask me if I feel like I’m the right person for this job, the answer is yes,” he said at the

post-match press conference after the loss to the USA.

The Black Stars have been paired against Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will start in January 2024.

However, they are set to take on Comoros and Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November.
