The NDC in the last election had infuriated the party’s supporters, many of whom are eager to vent their frustration about the defeat.

Some bigwigs of the NDC continue to trade blame for the the defeat of the party in the December 7 elections.

Supporters have also accused some party officials of amassing wealth and doing very little to help the fortune of the party in the elections.

But Mahama said party leaders and members must not be blamed for the defeat.

"The cause of our loss is multifaceted," adding that the accusations should be directed at him.

"Of course, as the General who led us into battle, I take ultimate responsibility for our losing the election, and so if it will satisfy those people, blame me for the loss," Mahama said at a meeting with his former appointees.
