African Development Bank (AfDB) has appointed Charles Owusu Boamah as Senior Vice President

Charles Owusu Boamah has been named the new Senior Vice President of the African Development Bank (AfDB).

He hails from Ghana, a West African country

Boamah served the Bank in the following capacities until now, Vice President of Finance, Acting Vice-President and Director of Finance. He also served as a Controller and Director of Financial Control Department.

Before joining the AfDB in 1991 Mr Boamah worked for 11 years with the First Interstate Bank (merged with Wells Fargo Bank), where he started as a Senior Financial Analyst and subsequently served as Vice President and Manager of Accounting Policy and Research.

He worked for over five years with the PricewaterhouseCoopers (then Coopers & Lybrand) in Accra and Los Angeles, where he started as a staff accountant and was promoted to a supervisor.

Boamah also worked as a Governor at the Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank and as a Director of the African Export-Import Bank.

He is a graduate of the University of Ghana, Legon where he obtained his BSc in Business Administration, Accounting Major from 1975 to 1978 and he holds an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles, The Anderson School of Management where he studied from 1980 to 1982.
