Ibrahim Mahama ordered by EOCO to pay state GHC12.7 million

The order came after he was investigated by EOCO over some dud cheques he is alleged to have issued to the Customs division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) at the Tema Port to clear some heavy duty equipment he imported.

Ibrahim Mahama, a brother of former president John Mahama, has been ordered by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to pay GHC12.7 million to the state before May 8.

Mahama was interviewed on Tuesday by EOCO after claims by the Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyepong that he had defrauded the state of almost 14 million cedis.

It is unclear whether the said EOCO issue is linked to the earlier allegations made against the businessman by Agyepong.

At Ibrahim’s last appearance, EOCO asked him to bring along his passport. He was asked to reappear on Friday, 21 April.

He appeared at the headquarters on Friday where the decision for him to pay the state GHC12.7 million was communicated to him.
