Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien was on target in the Greece Super League on Sunday as his Panathinaikos side travelled to play Levadiakos.
The former Chelsea and AC Milan striker who struggled with injuries in the first half of the season for his Greek side was handed a start in the away game by manager Andrea Stramaccioni.
The Ghana international and his team played out a goalless first half but quickly got on the score sheet after the interval with Marcus Berg putting away side Panathinaikos 1-0 up.
Michaeal Essien doubled the lead for his him in the 78th minute before being replaced by Efstathios Tavlaridis two minutes later.
Panathinaikos held on to their goals to take all three points in the game. The win for Essien’s side take them to 35 points on the league table after 19 games. Panathinaikos are in third position on the league table, 20 points behind league leaders Olympiacos.
