New IGP makes first shake-up in Police Service; Agblor et al moved

David Asante-Apeatu has moved the current Director-General of the CID, COP Prosper Agblor, to head the Special Duties Department as the Director General.

The new acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante-Apeatu, has made significant changes at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Police Service.

His Deputy, ACP Dennis Ako-Dem, has also been moved to the Special Duties Department.

DCOP Bright Oduro, who is the Director General in charge of Welfare, has now been appointed Director General of the CID.

ACP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Danquah, who was previously the head of the police command and staff college, and later moved to the ministries divisional police command, and then to PIPS, has now been appointed second in command at the CID.

It is unclear for now who takes over as Deputy Director General of PIPS.

More postings and reshuffling of senior police officers are likely to occur in the coming days.

President Nana Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, January 25, named COP Asante-Apeatu as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).

This followed the retirement of Inspector General of Police John Kudalor. Mr Kudalor was at the presidency on Wednesday to bid farewell to the president.

The new IGP was once the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
