The former Berekum Chelsea player suffered a broken shin and underwent a successful surgery at the Akomfo Anokye Hospital on Monday, but is in danger of missing the 2015-16 season.

Asante Kotoko in their quest to instill discipline in players have decided to apply the appropriate punishment on the player to serve as a deterrent to others.

“We will punish Jackson Owusu for picking up an injury in a game that was not sanctioned. We have our code of conduct and we will look at the appropriate punishment for him.

“But we will help him recover and will also foot his medical bills,” Michael Osei, the assistant coach of Kotoko told Happy FM.

Jackson Owusu had his salary cut down for playing in an unsanctioned gala competition some months ago, so this will be the second time he would be punished for engaging in an unsanctioned game.

Asante Kotoko will open the 2015-16 Ghana Premier League in an away fixture against sensational WAFA at Sogakope, one of the grounds they fell last season.
