Ghanaian defender on Swansea radar

Mensah has four months left on his contract and can speak to other clubs.

Swansea have made Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah their No 1 summer transfer target.

They hope to pull off a coup by landing the 25-year-old on a free from French side Evian ahead of Premier League rivals.

He has been with Evian since 2011 and the Swans have been scouting him regularly — along with other top-flight teams.

But Liberty Stadium boss Francesco Guidolin insists Jefferson Montero will not be joining Middlesbrough on loan.

SunSport revealed this week the Championship outfit were keen on the Ecuador winger, 26.

Montero was not in the squad for Saturday’s defeat to Southampton.

But Guidolin said: “All the players are important, we don’t want to lose any. This is true of Montero.”
