Members believed to be sympathisers of the other contestant, Nana Agyei Baffour Kesse, the Adumhene contested the move by the agent of Nana Kofi Senya.

This led to attack between the two parties involved in the election process.

Calm was later restored and the election proceeded, but both contestants failed to gain the two thirds majority.

A former Presiding Member Nana Kofi Senyah polled 68 of the 134 valid votes cast whilst Nana Agyei Baffour Kesse polled 66 votes.

This means a new date would therefore have to be set for re-election.

The election was supervised by the Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Lawrence Sarpong.

The KMA has 147 members, 91 of them elected, 44 appointed and 10 ex-officio members, who are Members of Parliament (MPs).
