The Sports Minister designate, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has stated that selection of players into the senior national team of Ghana is easier for his son to even do, hence no need to recruit a foreign coach with hard earned foreign currency.
The MP for Odododiodoo has been an ardent advocate of indigenous coaches and with some few weeks before he resumes his job as the minister for Youth and Sports he has indicated that foreign coaches main responsibilities as Black Stars coaches should be the transfer of technology and not just calling players into the team, which they fail to do.
According to him Ghana abound in talents which make selection of players into the senior national team easier, hence his son can even do that.

“We spend too much money on foreign coaches; even the salary of the President of Ghana is not close. Kwesi Appiah was doing a good job but he didn’t get the needed support,” Nii Lantey Vanderpuye told Happy FM.
“If it were selection of players into the Black Stars my son can even do that, because we have a lot of quality players out there. When we employ foreign coaches, they stay abroad most often and come down when Black Stars is about to play games.
“I think foreign coaches should rather help in the transfer of technology by imparting their knowledge into our local coaches.”
Nii Lantey Vanderpuye was on Monday vetted by the Parliamentary vetting committee and is expected to be confirmed as the Youth and Sports Minister to begin work.
