The Greater Accra Regional Branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has indicated that the mass resignation of the Ablekuma West Constituency executives will not hurt the fortunes of the party in the November polls.
In an interview on Joy FM, Alhaji Fufuna said: “We have tapes to show that there wasn’t any constituency election here; people were handpicked. We have tapes and we added all to our report that on the day of constituency elections, it will serve as proof. They were not voted for!”
Thirteen constituency executives resigned on the eve of the Ablekuma Parliamentary primary over allegations that the incumbent MP, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful was manipulating the electoral process in her favour by generating a new voters’ register.
The executives were led by the former chairman of the constituency, Theophilus Tetteh who pulled out of the Parliamentary candidate race over the same allegation.
The Regional Communications Director insisted that the allegations against the incumbent MP were false saying, “Ursula did not generate any album at all.”
He claimed that some of the executives who have opted out of the party “were beneficiary of the old albums which were used in 2010.”
Alhaji Fufuna served notice that Ablekuma West is a stronghold of the NPP “and we are going to retain the seat. Our people are charged and ready!”
