District Level Elections kicks off at a slow pace

District level elections are underway across the country with a very slow start.

Voting has begun in some areas while others are about to start.

Voting has begun at the Roman Catholic primary school A at Nungua out of the 864 registered voters 14 had voted at 8:30am.

Presiding Officer Esther Darko is hopeful more people will turn up before voting ends.

A total of 18,938 candidates comprising 1,182 women and 17,783 men are contesting to be assembly members. Five unit committee members in each electoral area will also be elected.
