Convener for Justice and Security for the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, Ayinbila Abubakar Atera, said the rate at which minors visited the game centre is contrary to an agreement by the assembly and Pusheng that only persons 18 years and above shall be allowed to take part in the ‘Jack pot’ game.

"When you look at the educational standard in the Bolga Municipality today, it’s an eye sore and you would find children age between 10 to 12 years playing this Jack Pot. It is very worrying but when assembly members inquired from Pusheng, they said Ghana government and the assembly were aware of them and so cannot stop their operations but we assembly members will do everything possible to remove these ‘Jack Pots’ from our communities and the municipality because this is not what we need as a municipality, we need things that will give life to our future leaders,” Mr. Atera told Accra-based Citi FM.

The Assembly further indicated that the betting company was placing a financial burden on parents in the area, and will therefore fast track moves to take legal action against the company.
