Ghanaian midfielder Afriyie Acquah’s expulsion from the Turin derby was harsh according to Antonio Comi, general manager of Torino.

The Ghanaian enforcer was shown a second yellow card for a tackle on Juventus’ Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic in a hard fought derby.

Speaking to Sky Italia after the game, Comi suggested the referee made a mistake with his decision.

“The management thinks that this was a nice match, where both teams played a great game.  Torino took the lead, then the episode of Acquah happened. I think the referee can make mistakes, but I'm sorry someone considers this a foul to be punished for “.

Juventus defender Mehdi Benatia however holds a different opinion saying that Acquah could have caused injury to his team mate.

"I do not like to talk he referees, but I think the Acquah foul is clear and it could be dangerous for Mandzukic.”
