Tamale Stadium renamed 'Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium'

He served as Vice President to ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor between 2001 and 2009.

The decision to rename the sports stadium after the late Vice President is in fulfilment of President Akufo-Addo's 2016 campaign pledge.

On Monday October 30, the President told the Aliu Mahama Foundation that the ex-veep “had so much to do with it (Tamale Sports Stadium), and I think it will be a proper monument to him, testimony to his contribution.”

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is expected to commission the renaming of the stadium today [Sunday December 10] in Tamale.
