6 killed in fatal accident in Ashanti Region

Six people have lost their lives in an accident at Akutuase, a town near Agogo in the Ashanti Region.

About seven others who were critically injured are receiving treatment at the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital, Kumasi-based Luv FM reports.

The tragic incident occurred on Monday around 8 pm when a KIA truck loaded with yam collided head-on with a Ford transit passenger bus.

The KIA driver was said to be overtaking another vehicle at a spot close to Akutuase Junction when the incident happened.

Police said that the driver of the Ford vehicle and five others on the bus died on the spot.

The driver of the KIA truck and his assistant, however, fled the scene of the accident.

Meanwhile, three of the dead have been identified by the police: Blessing Cudjoe, a student of the Presbyterian University College Agogo; Evelyn Dwomoh and Herspe Appiah both students of the Presbyterian Teacher Training College Agogo.

Police are still investigating the incident.
