Prince Anthony Bart-Appiah: The Ghanaian royal bridging Africa and its diaspora

Prince Anthony Bart-Appiah, a royal from Ghana’s Akwamu Traditional Family, is quietly becoming one of the most influential cultural diplomats of our time building powerful bridges between Africa and its global diaspora through storytelling, strategic partnerships, and policy diplomacy.

A grandson of Nana Afrakoma II, the Queenmother of Akwamu, Prince Anthony was raised with a strong sense of leadership and service. His international education from the University of Greenwich and the London Academy of Diplomacy to media training in the UK shaped his worldview and prepared him for a life beyond palace walls.

Starting his career in the British Army and later in the UK’s National Health Service, Prince Anthony transitioned into education and media work, where he discovered the power of storytelling in shaping African identity. Collaborations with studios in Los Angeles and TV networks like Cleo TV inspired him to take African narratives to a global stage.

In 2017, he founded The BridgeZone Global (TBZ), an organization committed to connecting Africa with its diaspora through culture, investment, and education. TBZ has led several impactful initiatives, including the Black Stories Matter Masterclass, the Return Stories campaign

during Ghana’s Year of Return, and Pan-African Investment Dialogues that have opened business opportunities between diaspora communities and African governments.

As President of AfroPanama International, Prince Anthony has positioned Panama City as a strategic hub for Africa Latin America collaboration. In 2023, he played a key role in securing the first-ever Ghana–Panama Parliamentary Friendship Agreement, promoting cultural, tourism, and educational exchanges.

His work also extends to philanthropy supporting health campaigns, youth scholarships, and women-led businesses across Ghana, Panama, and Colombia. In 2022, his royal wedding to Panama’s Vice President of the National Assembly, H.E. Kayra Harding, symbolized a new chapter in Africa Latin America relations.

Prince Anthony has been recognized globally with awards from the United Nations Global Marketplace, Peru’s César Vallejo Human Rights Commission, and the International Cultural Olympiad in Greece. His work has been featured on platforms including GhanaWeb, Asaase Radio, Mi Diario, and Harlem World Magazine.

With a focus on cultural identity, economic opportunity, and global partnerships, Prince Anthony Bart-Appiah continues to redefine what it means to be a modern African leader royal, relevant, and relentlessly Pan-African.
