Black Magic prevailing in African football or not?

Back in 2012, A BBC report disclosed that some African teams underwent some metaphysical initiations to empower them with the powers they needed to beat their opponents.

It is not new with African Football that some extra things are mixed with physical play by the players and coaches to get the results.

Though there had been cases of Black Magic influences at previous Nations Cup tournaments, it still might occur to some as a surprise that in 2015, there are players who believe in Juju.

Several methods of initiation included:

The juju man would assure the players not to panic if they heard a noise or felt a touch in the dark as this could be the "ghost" filling their boots with supernatural powers.

Those were in the past but it stunned many at the 2015 African Nations Cup when reports of a juju man performing a ritual sacrifice at the Bata Stadium before the kick-off of the quarter final game between Equatorial Guinea and Tunisia emanated.

Many assumptions were that the practise was in favour of the hosts and it turned out well for them against the Carthage Eagles.

The hosts were on their way to an exit before they were awarded a penalty on 92 minutes to level Tunisia who’d scored earlier.

They scored another in the extra period to win the game 2-1 for a match-up against Ghana in one of the semi-finals clashes.

The third quarter final game on Sunday also had a speck of diabolical means.

Guinea were already three goals down in the game against Ghana when they had goalkeeper, Naby Yattara sent off and out of frustration, the French based goalie revealed the supposed charm under his shirt.

A waist bead which could have been to prevent him from conceding goals that did not work as he let past a brace from Christian Atsu and Kwesi Appiah.

Clear attribution of his frustration to the failure kf the charm it is when he sprinted out against Atsu at two goals down and another nasty challenge on Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan.

The reaction of it could have brought the game to a sudden end as Ghanaian players charged up at the Syli Nationales
