The Nkwanta District Police have detained a suspected trafficker and ten children in the Volta Region.
They were detained on Monday after a metro mass bus driver raised suspicions about their movement, according to Citi FM reports.
The children had boarded the bus together with the alleged trafficker known only as Samuel to work on a maize farm.
Nkwanta District Police commander Superintended Joseph Acka disclose to Citi FM that investigations are already underway.
He said they believe the children were “from towns and villages around Damanko, near the Volta North.”
“We were told that their parents actually agreed that they go with a certain young man who gave his name as Samuel and according to that young man he is taking them to Wabolabo near Asikuma and they are going to do maize farming.”
