Driver Crushes Bicycle Rider To Death

A man believed to be in his Forties has been knocked and killed by a hit-and-run driver on the Akpafu Odomi road in the Volta region.

Hohoe police have stepped up efforts to apprehending a hit-and-run truck driver suspected to be working for Volta Forest Products, a plywood manufacturing company in Hohoe.

According to Mr Joseph Gyawu, Hohoe Divisional Police Commander, the deceased Alex Atando Asiedu, 45, was smashed beyond recognition when the timber trucks allegedly run over him at about 1900 hours on Monday.

He said the deceased was riding a bicycle on the Akpafu Odomi section of the Hohoe-Jasikan road network when the incident occurred.

His body has been deposited at the morgue in Hohoe.
