Indonesian student sentenced to 18 months in prison for posting 'defamatory' comments about his President

An Indonesian teenager has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for insulting President Joko Widodo on Facebook.

An 18-year-old high school student from Medan on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia, known by the initials, MFB, has been found guilty of breaking the internet laws of the country by making defamatory posts and memes of the President.
The judgment also also ordered him to pay a fine of 10 million rupiah (US$750).
Failure to pay the fine will result in an extension of the jail term by a month.
He was arrested in August 2017 after daring police officials to come and arrest him.
