European Open cut to 54 holes, Jonzon closes on Levy

Michael Jonzon produced a fine performance to reduce Alexander Levy's lead to four strokes at the European Open, a tournament that will now be decided over 54 holes following further delays due to fog.

Levy only had one hole to play on Saturday - when three more hours were lost due to the weather conditions - and parred the ninth to complete a 63 and remain 17 under.

The Frenchman, seeking his third European Tour title, has yet to drop a shot at Bad Griesbach this week and will hold a comfortable cushion at the beginning of what is now the final round on Sunday.

However, Jonzon - initially the fourth reserve for this event - surged into second by matching Levy's second-round score.

A run of six birdies in seven holes from the eighth lifted Jonzon into contention, with Ross Fisher (65) a shot further back at 12 under.

"I always said I function well under these circumstances," said Jonzon. "I struggle more just trying to make cuts because I can put a lot of pressure on myself. I know what I can do and sometimes I try too much."

Fisher added: "There's still a lot to play for and it's nice to know now that we've only got one round to go. It's a tough decision but I think they've made the right call."

Bernd Wiesberger (68) and two home challengers - Martin Kaymer (64) and Florian Fritsch (64) - share fourth, six shots behind Levy.
