Ga Traditional Council amends closure directive of shops for late queen's funeral

Initially, the Council had instructed the closure of all offices and shops in the Central Business District of the Greater Accra Region for three days, from October 26th to October 29th.

However, in a new statement, the Council has modified its directive. Now, businesses and offices are only required to close on Saturday, October 28, instead of the previously announced three-day period.

The amended statement reads: "This is an amendment to our previous notice of September 4, 2023. The Ga Traditional Council has determined that shops and markets within Accra should be closed on Saturday, the 28th of October 2023 only, and not from the 26th of October to the 29th of October 2023 to the 31st of October 2023 as previously announced."

The Council also added an additional requirement: "In addition, it is required that all markets, shops, and offices in Accra should be draped in red and black, our mourning colors from the 15th of October to the 31st of October 2023. We respectfully urge everyone to comply fully with this announcement."

This amendment serves to clarify the earlier directive and reduces the period of business closures.

The Council's request for the public to adhere to these changes underscores the significance of the mourning period and the need for unified cooperation in honoring the late queen.
