Pop star named highest selling artiste of 2014

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has named pop singer Taylor Swift as the world's top-selling artiste of 2014.

In a statement released by IFPI on Monday, February 24, 2015, Taylor Swift was the world's most commercially successful artiste with physical sales, downloads and streaming taken into account.

The former country singer dominated in late 2014 in the United States, and was among the top five artistes Germany, Japan and Britain.

IFPI however noted that if the soundtrack was performed by one act, Taylor Swift wouldn't have been conferred with the honour.

Taylor Swift's latest album sold 1.2 million copies in its first week.
