29-year-old Luke Nnaemeka Ugwu was, on Friday, March 20, found guilty of trafficking 725.4 gm of methamphetamine and sentenced to die by hanging.

Ugwu was said to have committed the offence at arrival hall of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on May 15, 2012.

In delivering the judgment, Justice Datuk Abdul Alim Abdullah found his defence to be a mere denial and not sufficient to prove his innocence.

Two other Nigerians escaped death in the same court when one 31-year-old Onyeme Chibunna Okechukwu pleaded guilty to drug possession while another, 29-year-old Obdiegwu Chinwuba Sigismund was acquitted of all charges.
