A court in Egypt has sentenced prominent activist, Alaa Abdel Fattah to five years in prison.

The blogger and software engineer is known for his part in the 2011 revolt that toppled Egyptian dictator, Hosni Mubarak.
Abdel Fattah is one of several activists jailed since the military took power from Mohamed Morsi in 2013 and began a major crackdown on dissension in the country.
Another defendant, Ahmed Abdulrahman, was also sentenced to five years in prison while 18 others received three-year sentences.
