Patricia Appiagyei wins Asokwa seat

Incumbent Member of Parliament for the Asokwa constituency Patricia Appiagyei has been retained as the parliamentary candidate as she beat her opponent, Maxwell Kofi Jumah.

She polled 326 votes as against 158 votes to Kofi Jumah.

Kofi Jumah was earlier arrested and charged with destroying electoral materials and disturbing public peace.

Mr. Kofi Jumah is reported to have torn the voter register on suspicion that it has been doctored to favour incumbent, Patricia Appiagyei.

The Buffalo Unit of the police in the region picked him up in a very tensed atmosphere.

He is currently in Police custody.
