Six dead in gas explosion at Tinga

According to the Northern Regional Police PRO ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, two of the deceased persons include the driver and mate of the container vehicle with registration number GT 9423-10.

6 persons have been confirmed dead and several others are said to be in critical condition after a gas explosion at Tinga, a mining community near Bole in the Bole District of the Northern region.

He revealed that the explosion occurred as a tanker vehicle which was conveying oxygen for delivery at Wa in the Upper West region exploded upon reaching the Tinga market killing the two and four others who were close by.
“The four other deceased persons are two males and two females. Today was Tinga market day so they were in the market I guess trading before the unfortunate incident. We are not certain what triggered the explosion but investigations have commenced”, he said on Kumasi-based Ultimate Radio.

The bodies of the deceased persons have since been deposited at the Bole Hospital morgue pending autopsy.
