4 suspects have been arrested in connection with yesterday, Wednesday's Tunisian museum attack, BBC reports.

The Tunisian presidency revealed that the 4 were arrested for having direct links to the gun attack in Tunis that left 23 people dead, including 20 foreign tourists.

It further added that the army will also be deployed to major cities.

Yassine Laabidi, one of the two gunman involved in the Bardo museum attack, was reportedly known to the authorities. He and his accomplice, Hatem Khachnaoui, were killed as security forces stormed the museum.

The arrested suspects arrested have not been identified and it is not clear what their alleged involvement might have been.

The presidency said Tunisia was facing "exceptional circumstances", adding that "terrorist operations have now moved from the mountains to the cities".
