PulseSports take a look at the last 10 Ghana Premier League top scorers and where they are now:

Prince Tagoe - 2005

Prince Tagoe, Ghana’s only prince of goals. The 29-year-old was the top scorer in the Ghana Premier League in 2005 as a player of Accra Hearts of Oak.

The player after his win has had spells with Sulley Muntari’s current club Al Ittihad, Al Shabab, Ettifaq, 1899 Hoffenheim, Partizan, Bursaspor, Ettifaq, Club Africain, Kelantan FA and Hapoel Bnei Lod.

In December 2014, a real estate developer in Ghana dragged the former Black Stars striker to court over $155, 000.

Emmanuel Clottey - 2006/2007

Emmanuel Atukwei Clottey was a player for Great Olympics when he finished as the top scorer in the Ghana Premier League for the 2006/2007 season.

The player who began his career with a Brazil Academy before his time at Olympics had short loan spells abroad before returning home to play for Tema Youth and Berekum Chelsea.

Emmanuel Clottey made another transfer move away from Ghana to Esperance de Tunis from 2012 to 2015. He was loaned to Al Dhafra during his time at Esperance..

The player was with Kumasi-based club Asante Kotoko before his contract was terminated.

Eric Bekoe - 2007/2008

The Ghanaian player became the ‘Goal King’ in the 207/2008 season with Ghana Premier League side Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Bekoe’s performance saw him land a four-year deal with Egyptian club Petrojet after missing out on Zamalek. Eric Bekoe then returned to Ghana to play for Berekum Chelsea. The striker is now a player of Sekondi Hasaacas for the 2016 Ghana Premier League season.

Alex Asamoah - 2008/2009

Alex Asamoah won the 2008/2009 Ghana Premier League top scorer award with 17 goals for Kumasi Asante Kotoko. The player continued for the Kumasi based club before moving to South Korean K-League team Gyeongnam FC on loan on March 17, 2010.

Asamoah joined ES Setif the following year before returning to Ghana to play for Ashgold. Alex Asamoah had a short spell with Ashgold making 16 appearances during his time before transferring to Aduana Stars where his is currently playing.

Samuel Affum and Bismark Idan - 2009/2010

Samuel Afum and Bismark Idan shared the golden boot award in the 2009/2010 Ghana Premier League season.

Afum who was then a Hearts of Oak player has gone on to play three years for Arabian club Smouha Sporting Club before joining Swiss team Young Boys. The player is now on loan at second tier side Xamax in Switzerland from Young Boys.

Idan after becoming the top scorer with Ghanaian club Kessben FC moved to Berekum Chelsea before going abroad to play for Turkish club Goztepe SK.

Bismark Idan returned to Berekum Chelsea and in 2014 transferred to New Edubbiase United. The player is now a free agent after ending his contract with Edubiase.

Nana Poku - 2010/2011

Nana Poku’s goalscoring prowess with Berekum Arsenal landed him a three-year deal with Hapoel Be’er Sheva. The 2010/2011 Ghana Premier League top scorer with Berekum Chelsea moved to Ittihad El Shorta agter three years with  Sheva before making a move to Misr El-Makasa where he currently plays.

Emmanuel Baffour - 2011/2012

Emmanuel Awuah Baffour is currently MIA with respect to his football career after his deal with South African Premier League team Mamelodi Sundowns ended with him playing for Ashgold last season. The former Liberty Professionals, Tema Youth and New Edubiase United striker was the top scorer for the for the 2011/2012 Ghana Premier League season scoring 21 goals for New Edubiase.

Mahatma Ottoo- 2012/2013

Mahatma Ottoo has not played in Ghana since his days with Ghana Premier League team Accra Hearts of Oak from 2009 to 2013 where he was named the ‘Goal King’ for the 2012/2013 season.

The player had a loan spell at ES Tunis  during his time at Hearts of Oak before joining Norwegian football club Sogndal till date.

Augustine Okrah - 2013/2014

Augustine Okrah won the top scorer accolade with Ghana Premier League team Bechem United in the 2013/2014 season. The player scored 16 goals to top the charts.

The 22-year-old Ghanaian footballer joined BK Hacken on loan from Bechem United. Okrah is currently playing in Sudan for Al Marriekh.

Kofi Owusu - 2014/2015

Kofi Owusu is the most recent player to be crowned the top scorer in Ghana’s top flight football. Owusu scored 19 goals for Berekum Chelsea in the 2014/2015 season to win the golden boot.

The former Aduana Stars and King Faisal forward joined Egyptian club Aswan FC in January before the 2016 Ghana Premier League season began.
