Aston Villa showed their vulnerability once again as they let a two-goal lead slip to draw with Preston North End at Villa Park.

Albert Adomah’s controversial brace saw Villa race into a comfortable half-time lead but Jordan Hugill bagged two after the break to level the scores.

While the unbeaten home record stayed intact, Villa lost further ground on their promotion rivals and time is now running out to catch up.

What made this result so disappointing was that the hosts played their best football of the season for 45 minutes.

Henri Lansbury inspired Villa and the positivity of young Andre Green made a difference.

Villa’s opener angered Preston, though.

But it was Henri Lansbury’s presence in the middle of the park that made the difference. Andre Green’s positivity on the left also played a part.
