The first leg of matches played saw five Ghanaian players feature for the various clubs across Europe.
In all, the 5 players played a total of 186 minutes on the opening day of the competition.
The players involved are- Kwadwo Asamoah, Majeed Ashimeru, Thomas Partey, Joseph Paintsil and Richmond Boakye Yiadom.

Kwadwo Asamoah who plays for Inter Milan in Italy played 90 minutes for his club against Slavia Prague on Tuesday. The game which was played in Milan ended 1-1.
Thomas Partey was the next Ghanaian player who saw more play time. He last 76 minutes in that 2-2 draw between Atletico Madrid and Juventus on Wednesday.
Forward Richmond Boakye Yiadom came off the bench to play 20 minutes for Red Star Belgrade in their 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich in Germany.
The other two Ghanaian players featuring in this year’s Champions League did not play for their clubs, but were on the bench.
Ashimeru’s team Red Bull Salzburg thumped Painstil’s Genk 6-2.

Painstil was absent from the Belgian side due to an injury he picked up on Saturday, September 14 in a league game against Charleroi.
