Bernard Ofori: "I plotted Ashgold's fall from bench"

Medeama’s Super Cup hero Benard Ofori says his late strike against Ashanti Gold was a dream come true.

Medeama beat reigning Ghana premier league champions Ashanti Gold 1-0 to lift the 2015/16 Super Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, a game that was dominated by the Tarkwa based side.

Ofori joined the Mauve and Yellows on transfer deadline-day after snubbing former Ghana premier league champions Hearts of Oak.

However, the former New Edubiase lethal attacker who was a second half substitute took a perfect time to punish Ashanti Gold with 3 minutes to end the game as Medeama claimed the bragging rights over the Miners.

And Ofori after the game in an exclusive interview with Pulse.com.gh said his goal against Ashanti Gold was dream come true.

“It was a dream come true to score against Ashanti Gold, because I knew I will score against them due to the fact that I know how the defenders of Ashanti Gold do play so when I was at the bench I studied their play so the time the coach introduced me in the game I had my plans already,” Ofori said.

The 25 year-old forward added that, their triumph over the league champions will definitely motivate them ahead of the kick start of the Ghana premier league and their Confederation cup campaign.

“The win will be a morale booster for the team ahead of the Ghana premier league and the Confederations cup. It clearly shows our readiness and what we want to do when the season takes off, but trust me Medeama will be a team to watch.”
