How to find screenshots on a Windows 10 computer and change where they're saved to by default

The way to find your screenshots on a Windows 10 computer changes depending on how you took the screenshot.

Windows 10 computers offer a variety of different tools to help enhance your user experience.

For example: you can take screenshots on your Windows 10 computer, and later view those screenshots.

There are a few different ways to take a screenshot in Windows 10 . However, not all of them make it immediately obvious where that screenshot goes.

Here's how you can locate the screenshots you've taken in Windows 10 , as well as how to change the default location screenshots taken in a certain way are saved to.

Firstly: if you've taken a screenshot by just pressing the PrtScn key, then you won't be able to find your screenshot anywhere. This is because it's only saved in your computer's clipboard, and you'll have to paste it into a program like Paint before it can be saved to your computer and viewed normally.

The Snipping Tool is another screenshotting method that lets you pick where to save every individual picture you take. If you've forgotten where you saved your last Snipping Tool screenshot, just take another and try to save it the folder it opens to is where your last screenshot was saved.

However, if you've taken a screenshot by pressing the Windows + PrtScn keys:

1. Open your File Explorer. You can do this by opening any folder.

2. Once you've opened the Explorer, click on "This PC" in the left sidebar, and then "Pictures."

3. In "Pictures," locate the folder called "Screenshots." Open it, and any and all screenshots taken will be there.

If you use the Windows + PrtScn method, you can also change where your screenshots are saved to. To do this:

1. Firstly, use the File Explorer to navigate to the place where you want your screenshots to be saved. It can be anywhere, including your desktop. Once there, create a folder called "Screenshots."

2. Now, repeat the previous section's steps to reach the "Pictures" folder.

3. Right-click on the folder that reads "Screenshots" and then open the "Properties" of the folder.

4. In "Properties" for the folder, click on the tab that reads "Location." You'll be shown the Screenshots folder's current location. To change the folder's location, click "Move."

5. In the new Explorer window that opens, navigate to the new Screenshots folder you made earlier and select it. Once there, click "Select Folder" in the bottom-right.

All future screenshots taken with the Windows + PrtScn method will be saved there.
