The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has presented a cheque of GH¢60,000 to the Police Hospital.
UCC assists kidney failure student
The patient thanked the school for the support saying, 'I didn't expect this from the school, I am touched and so much grateful, God bless them.'
The gesture, a collaborative effort by UCC and the Distance Education Students Association of Ghana (DESAG, UCC), was for a kidney transplant operation for Christina Yelsaana, a level 200 student of the school, on admission at the hospital.
Vice Chancellor of UCC, Professor Dowmin Dabire Kuupole, revealed that 'this forms part of our corporate social responsibility. The treatment through the dialysis, according to the hospital management so far has been good but for how long can she go through it?
He mentioned that 'the hospital will need over GH¢100,000 for the transplant because there is a donor whose organ matches with hers, so the donor will also have to go through an operation.
'We are, therefore, appealing to corporate Ghana, individuals, churches and all to support this lady so she can regain her strength.
