The State has filed an application at an Accra High court seeking to set aside the sentence of Charles Antwi, the gunman who was jailed after confessing that he wanted to kill President Mahama.

Judge erred in jailing Charles Antwi - State Prosecutor
Charles Antwi was convicted on one count of possessing a firearm without licence by the court presided over by Justice Francis Obiri
The state in the application said the trial judge Justice Francis Obiri erred in his judgment due to the fact that there was an error in the face of the record. The state are asking for a retrial and a thorough examination of the convict.
Charles Antwi has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for entering the church [Assemblies of God] of the President John Dramani Mahama with a gun.
He confessed to the circuit that he had wanted to assassinate the President.
