NPP Council of Elders now Council of Nana Addo - Arthur Kennedy

"The Council of Elders should broker peace and not fan divisions and that is what they are doing and as long as they keep doing that there will never be peace in the party.”

The Director of Communications of the NPP's 2008 presidential campaign, Dr. Kobina Arthur Kennedy has accused the National council of Elders of fanning the divisions in the NPP.

“The Council of Elders has become the Council of Nana Addo and that is actually one of our major problems, that is why we seem not to be able to resolve our difficulties.” He told Pulse.com.gh

The vociferous member of the party said Paul Afoko is not the cause of the problems of the NPP.

The National Council of Elders has written to the disciplinary committee of the party to suspended Paul Afoko.

The suspension if carried out according to the Council should last until the 2016 election is over.

But Dr. Arthur Kennedy said suspending Afoko will not end the problems in the party.

“I think the way forward is to stop all talk of removal. We should stop the impeachment; we should let them do their work. The council of elders should broker peace and not fan divisions and that is what they are doing and as long as they keep doing that there will never be peace in the party.”

Paul Afoko and his general secretary Kwabena Agyapong have come under attack by some party members who claim their efforts are aimed at making sure Nana Addo loses the 2016 elections, an allegation the  general secretary has on several occasions denied.

The suspicions and attacks were heightened after the death of Upper East party chairman Adam Mahama.

For a major opposition party which wants to win an election which is 16 months away, the NPP’s behavior has been a source of worry for their supporters and political analysts.

Dr. Arthur Kennedy thinks the party aside everything needs prayers.
