Former NDC official forms political movement to unseat Mahama

According to him, the new political movement, Move Ghana, has come about following what he calls corruption in the political system.

A former member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Carl Wilson has announced the formation of a new political movement to unseat President John Mahama in this year’s November polls.

Carl Wilson, who was also the Chairman of the Confiscated Vehicles Committee under late President Mills said the country, which he argues is heading in the wrong direction, needs a president who will not be controlled from any political party.

“I strongly believe that Ghana is not going the right direction. … If you look at the concept that we [Founders of Move Ghana] have come up with … I believe that a lot of people in government know about this movement, but maybe, they didn’t believe that it can see the light of the day,” he told Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana on Tuesday.

He argues that Ghana’s political system has created the absence of checks and balances “that is making it difficult for whoever cheats as president to rule with the powers granted to him by the constitution.”“...It is the system that we inherited which is the problem and which is ineffective. That is the system that I will urge the youth of this country to come together and say enough is enough and then we find a solution to elect an open president as the president of this country,” Carl Wilson said.
