Government has given the Ministry of Education the approval to employ more teachers.The approval by the Ministry of Finance will allow the Education Ministry to employ over nine thousand teachers for community day schools.Speaking at GBC’s Twin City Radio, President Mahama assured the teachers of maximum comfort, as the new community day schools are constructed to make teaching and learning fun and interesting.

"Finance has given clearance to employ over nine thousand new teachers for the community day schools because as we open them, we must equip them with teachers", the president added.

Graduate teachers have served notice of a strike on Thursday as they agitate over unpaid allowances.They argue that government has consistently demonstrated bad faith in addressing their grievances.The National Association of Graduate Teachers and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers earlier on postponed a planned strike to enable government to deal with some administrative challenges.But the teachers argue government does not seem to be serious about their concerns.The two institutions are meeting to try and resolve the problem.President Mahama urged them to quickly tackle the problem to avert any strikes.
