Bolgatanga Hospital Mortuary fridges break down

The thirty capacity fridges broke down on Saturday and Monday respectively.

Two fridges serving the Upper East Regional Hospital morgue located in the Regional Capital, Bolgatanga have broken down a1radio news has learnt.

Confirming the situation to A1radio, Medical Director of the facility, Dr. Peter Baffour said although this is not the first time the hospital is being faced with such a challenge, this situation has been dire because both fridges in the morgue have broken down at the same time.

He mentioned that although the capacity of the fridges at the regional hospital morgue is very low, they receive huge numbers hence overburdening fridges.

He added that the fridges in the hospital are outmoded but the facility is going through a reconstruction face and believes that the facility will be provided with an ultramodern morgue.

He maintained that although the fridges have been dysfunctional for some days now, bodies in the morgue have not gone bad because they have been embalmed.

He however called on individuals who have bodies at the morgue to pick them to prevent them from going bad in the coming days considering the fact that technicians are working round the clock to fix the fridges.
