Former Member of Parliament for North Dayi George Loh has asked the Attorney General and her two deputies to stop sleeping and wake up from slumber to protect the laws of Ghana.
His comments comes at the back of the eight Delta Force members who were standing trial for attacking a magistrate’s court and aiding the escape of thirteen of their members.
On Wednesday, May 17, 2017, the Attorney General has dropped charges against the eight members of vigilante group Delta Force.
Explaining their decision, the prosecutor, ACP Okyere Darko, said after investigations, they did not have enough evidence to support the charges levelled against the accused persons.
The Attorney General is currently investigating the circumstances under which the eight were freed.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Information said "Preliminary investigations suggest that the decision was taken without recourse even to the Director of Public Prosecution and may amount to a breach of internal procedures on matters of this nature."
But the former NDC MP however, chastised the AG for what he called a pathetic handling of the case.
He said "The Attorney General and her two deputies must stop sleeping, wake up from your slumber and do the right thing for mother Ghana."
Meanwhile, the Minority has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to reverse the Attorney General's actions that has led to the dropping of the charges against the eight members of the vigilante group.
Haruna Iddrisu said the accused persons should be re-arrested and re-arraigned before the court.
He said the President must immediately show leadership on the release of the vigilante group.
