The Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame said the budget will be presented to the house on Wednesday, November 15th, 2017.

Since the New Patriotic Party(NPP) took office, this would be the second budget to be read by the administration. The first was read in March 2017. It was christened the Asempa budget.

Many people were interested in the 2017 budget because of the many promises made by the government during the 2016 election campaign.

Among the highlights of the 2017 budget, were the withdrawal of the 1 percent Special Import Levy,  17.5 percent VAT/NHIL on financial services, and 17.5 percent VAT/NHIL on selected imported medicines, that are not produced locally.
