Togbe Afede XIV and other winners at the 2018 Exclusive Men of the Year Awards (EMYs).

Set for one of the most prestigious award ceremonies on the African continent. Set for an occasion to honour the men of Ghana. Set for an opportunity to recognize the good works of the men in Ghana.

However, this wasn’t all about men. And we’re not going to go into the ‘ behind every man ...’ slogan.

But women did cherish the opportunity and came to back their men.

Former First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings sat among gallant men in suits at the auditorium inside the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra as she supported them in her own way.

She wasn’t alone. There were more.

The Exclusive Men of the Year event, aside guests giving their best poses on the red carpet. started of with honouring Emeritus Professor Nketia for the Lifetime Achievement  Award. No debate here.

Not that there’d be a debate elsewhere but the keenly contested ‘Discovery of the Year’ award might have given a few disappointments depending on where you stand.

For the ladies, wup wup! For the sports fans, not so much as Kuami Eugene took home that award.

In the world of fashion Chocolate Clothing beat stiff competition from Bromon and Abramtie The Gentlemen.

Bhim Nation kept winning this year as the Man of Year, Entertainment went to Stonebwoy. Calm down. No one mentioned Shatta Wale. Lol.

Sports has taken a bit of a down since Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ expose but that did not stop the organizers of the Exclusive Men of the Year from taking note of key participants.

Isaac Dogboe got one over Thomas Teye Partey who was named the Footballer of the Year at the Ghana Football Awards.

In the Best Groomed, Okyeame Kwame who is also known for his fashion and style aside his music pushed Steven Appiah and Nathaniel Attoh off his path to win the award.

Legendary Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba was also honoured before he took to the stage to do what he does best, making people dance to good music.

DL’s musical prowess was given a run for its money as he was not the only musician to have rocked people’s world on the night.

Nigeria’s Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye popularly known in the music world as Simi wowed the audience with a powerful live band performance, a similar ecstasy served by Efia at last year’s edition of the Exclusive Men of the Year Awards.

It was a night filled with joy. It was a night filled hope and in all, a night filled with accolades.

The biggest accolade went to Togbe Afede XIV, the president of the National House of Chiefs who was named as the Ultimate Man of the Year.
