Dreams FC plot Kotoko fall in Kumasi

The debutants want to deepen the woes of the Porcupine Warriors in Kumasi

Dreams FC are poised for action and are eager to avenge the first round home defeat they suffered at the hands of Asante Kotoko at the Dawu Park.

Michael Osei’s charges have won just a game in 7 league matches in the second round, (D4, L2). The only win chalked was the one against Wa All Stars.

The team were lying 2nd on the league log after the first half of the season but have now slipped to 5th position. This is making it difficult for them to challenge for the league title.

The pressure has been mounting on the team to deliver, so the management of the club has brought  onboard Malik Jabir as the technical director of the club to advise acting coach Michael Osei.

Michael Osei ahead of the of the match has stated that there should be no room for errors by the team.

“The points in the eight remaining games can turn things around if really we want to win the league as planned before the season started.

“Let’s go all out. Let’s avoid further slips because we don’t have room for it. Our next game against Dreams FC. It’s a must-win game," he stated.

Asante Kotoko’s leading top scorer Dauda Mohammed, who is on 7 league goals is yet to find the back of the net in the second round of the season.

Kotoko’s skipper, Amos Frimpong is the second top scorer of the club with 6 goals. He is the top scoring defender in the league thus far and the most outstanding player for Kotoko in the second round.

They have won 4 and lost three of the games played in the second half of the league and are therefore sitting 4th on the league log with 35 points.

Dreams FC FC are just lying one place above the hosts Asante Kotoko and are 2 points better than their opponents.

Dreams FC have won a game in away fixtures in the second round when they piped Liberty Professionals by a goal to nil

C.K Akunnor believes his side have what it takes to beat Kotoko in Kumasi.

"The situation at the moment is different from what happened in the first round when we met Kotoko. They were doing well at the time, but in the second round they have lost about three games, while we are doing so well," he said.

"But Kotoko have what it takes to turn things around, so we will not be swollen headed.

“There is no pressure on the team. They should pass well, play well and enjoy the game.

"We have the ability to do well against every team. We are one of the best away performers this season, so we can do it in Kumasi."

Lawson Bekui is Dreams FC’s leading top scorer with 7 league goals.

Eric Gawu, former King Faisal and Hearts of Oak marksman who  has returned to the Ghana Premier League is doing incredibly well with Dreams FC, having scored 3 goals.
