The Porcupine Warriors are still in search of their first league victory as they take on the league champions
Kotoko
The Porcupine Warriors have a point in two league games played, having lost to WAFA and drawn against Medeama.
Kotoko were tagged favourites prior to the start of the ongoing league season, after their devastating pre-season form that won them the G6 trophy and the SWAG Cup, but their performance, after two games have created some doubts.
They still have injury issues to deal with. Dauda Mohammed couldn’t finish the entire duration of their game against Medeama due to injury, whereas players like Kwame Boateng, Felix Annan, Jackson Owusu, and a host of others are also on their injury list.
Kotoko last lost a game in Kumasi on July 9, when Berekum Chelsea handed them a 0-3 defeat, last season.
Ashgold
The Miners have secured 4 points from a possible 9. Edged Medeama 2-1 and settled for a goalless draw against Berekum Chelsea last weekend.
Ashgold last won an away league game on 21st February, 2015 when they defeated New Edubiase 3-2 and have since gone 11 away league games without a victory. (D4, L7).
The league champions poor pre-season outing, coupled with their champions league elimination has put much pressure on the technical bench headed by Bashiru Hayford.
The Miners will rely on the attacking prowess of Alhassan Nuhu who scored one of Ashgold’s two goals against Medeama, with the other goal coming from his twin brother Fuseini Nuhu.
