Five police officers from the East Legon Police station, in Accra, have been accused of being accomplices in a $160,000-gold fraud case being investigated by the Police Intelligence and Professional Standards Bureau.
The officers are alleged to be part of a syndicate that includes some unlicensed gold dealers who reportedly sold gold to a French man, Atrous Yazid and his partner, and stole the gold back before the buyers could leave the country.
