The Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders Association has called on the trade and industry ministry to revert the Import Declaration Forms (IDF) tax policy.

The Association say the trade ministry imposed the newly implemented IDF tax policy which can only be paid through the UBA bank two weeks ago.

Darko laments the new policy is relevant and only complicating issues.

“We are saying that once you create an IDF, once you create a custom evaluation, the IDF ceases in the system and the system will be fine,” he told Citi FM.

“Automatically once you pay for the duty fee, you have paid for the IDF fee.

“But why are you now removing the fee from the custom declaration thinking that we should go purchase it. It means we are going back to the olden days. Where we use to buy the IDF manual and type.

“It will be better to revert it. It is inconvenient.”
