The Executive Committee, which is the highest decision-making body of the GFA last year made it a priority to develop new football pitches in its quest to promote the growth of football in Ghana.
Kwesi Nyantakyi, the President of the Association has stated that the project will start this year in the Ashanti region, but all other regions are expected to benefit with time.
“We (GFA) will start developing pitches. We want to develop about 15 of them. we have discussed it at the Executive Committee level.
“The project will start from the Ashanti region, but since it is a national policy every region will have their turn,” he told Nhyira FM.
The development of pitches and stadia in the past were the sole responsibility of government, however, the GFA has decided to channel some of the monies the FA receives from FIFA into the development of sporting infrastructure to promote the growth of the most followed sporting event in Ghana.
