Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuje has stressed that he is ready to work with Nii Lante Bannerman in order to foster unity in the Odododiodio Constituency.
In the build up to last Wednesday’s election, tension arose in the constituency following a clash between sympathizers of the NDC and the NPP
After the election, Nii Lante Vanderpuje who stood on the ticket of the NDC (36,606) retained his parliamentary seat by beating his rival Nii Lante Bannerman from the NPP (26, 6671) with over 9,000 votes.
“I thank God for my victory, it has not been easy to retain my seat and I thank all my supporters for voting for me,” Vanderpuije said afterwards.
“I’m yet to receive a congratulatory message from my close contender Nii Lante Bannerman, if I don’t get a message from him I will walk straight to his house and have a word with him.
“Now the election is over and the betterment of the constituency is what I want, Nii Lante Bannerman is like a brother to me and I’m ready to work with him.”
Vanderpuje in 2012 won the seat for the first time after beating Victor Okaikoi with over 19,000 votes.
