I've not decided on my running mate - Mahama

According to President John Mahama, "You can’t have a running mate when you are not yet a candidate"

President Mahama has indicated that he is yet to decide on his running mate for the 2016 general election.

Speaking to Twin City radio on Monday in the Western region, the President said his focus is on being elected as the flagbearer for the NDC in the 2016 election and “after I have been declared as the flagbearer then the party executives will decide on the running mate”.

"The Party has rules and guidelines to follow on how to elect a running mate for the party. The Party Executives will have a meeting to decide on the running mate," the President added.

"You can’t have a running mate when you are not yet a candidate," he stated. "We have worked sufficiently and looking for maximum endorsement. You can’t go over 100%. I’m going round and talking to them and asking for their mandate."

"You have to be endorsed first then you can announce who your running mate should be. There is a procedure for naming a running mate."

Meanwhile, the NDC have cleared 98 parliamentary aspirants in the Greater Accra region to contest in the November 7 primaries.
